PEDA is the primary statewide organization representing economic development professionals and, as such, provides opportunities to share best practices that enhance the professional dialogue and support local, regional, and state economic development initiatives.

Who should attend? Those in attendance are expected to include professionals representing economic and community development at the municipal, county, regional, and state levels as well as workforce development professionals, commercial and industrial developers, business incubator operators, project finance professionals, IDA directors, elected officials, and executives representing utilities and transportation, engineering, and construction.

The deadline to reserve rooms at the PEDA rate is September 6th and, after this deadline or once capacity has been reached - whichever comes first - reservations will only be accepted on a space and rate availability basis. Navigating Business Structures & Tax Returns: A Roadmap for Economic Development Lenders

As the statewide association of economic development professionals, PEDA strives to provide finance-focused training opportunities. Many economic development finance professionals have honed their lending skills while on the job and through various economic development finance training options.

Form 1120. Form 1165. Schedule C. Schedule K. What do all of these mean? This session will aim to alleviate the perplexing task of navigating and understanding federal tax returns. Presenters will provide economic development lenders with key tactics to understand various business structures and correlation to federal tax returns. Session elements include:

  • Basics of and differences between common types of business structures
  • Legal and tax considerations different business structures
  • Tax return basics (Forms and Schedules) for different types of business structures

Eligible members of PEDA engaged in its individual certification program may earn 3.00 PDUs through participation in this pre-conference session.

PIDA has determined that, through their participation in this pre-conference session, eligible representatives of DCED-certified economic development organizations (CEDOs) may earn 3.00 finance PDUs toward the annual PIDA requirement of 6.00.

IEDC Recognition

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has confirmed this event qualifies as a professional development training that counts toward the recertification of Certified Economic Developers (CEcD).

Professional Development Units

Individual Certification: Eligible members of PEDA engaged in its individual certification program may earn a maximum of 8.00 PDUs through conference attendance and another 3.00 PDUs through participation in the pre-conference session, for which separate registration is required.

Organizational Certification: PIDA has determined that, through their participation in the conference and the pre-conference session, eligible representatives of DCED- certified economic development organizations (CEDOs) may earn up to 4.00 finance PDUs toward the annual PIDA requirement of 6.00. In addition to the 3.00 PDUs available through the pre-conference session entitled “Navigating Business Structures & Tax Returns: A Roadmap for Economic Development Lenders”, the conference session entitled “Demystifying RACP - 101” has been approved to provide 1.00 PDU.

Note: One Professional Development Unit (PDU) equals one hour of actual instruction.

Consent to Use of Photographic Images

Registration for, attendance at or participation in the 2021 PEDA Fall Conference constitutes an agreement by the registrant, attendee or participant to PEDA’s use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant's, attendee's or participant's image in photographs.

Dietary / ADA Restrictions

If you have any ADA restrictions, dietary restrictions or allergies you would like PEDA or the conference venue to be aware of, please list them in the registration form or contact PEDA headquarters.

Early Bird Rate

Early bird registration rates will be honored only for registrations received and fully paid by the stated deadline. PEDA reserves the right to assess the standard registration rate for registrations received after the deadline or only partially completed by the deadline.

Cancellation / Refund / Substitution Policies

Requests for cancellations and refunds must be made in writing and received by the date and time listed in the registration brochure. No refunds will be granted after that point. All cancellations and refunds are subject to an administrative fee. No-shows will be billed in full. Substitutions are permitted, but rate adjustments (i.e., member vs. non-member, early-bird vs. standard, etc.) will apply.

Complimentary parking is available.

COVID-19 Procedures

PEDA has strongly encouraged all conference participants to be fully vaccinated prior to attending the 2021 PEDA Fall Conference and continues to monitor guidance by the CDC, as well as by state and county health officials. Participants are asked to remain up-to-date regarding the latest CDC guidance and Boyd Gaming’s efforts to ensure guests’ safety and comfort during their visit to the conference venue. Room Block Piracy / Poaching

Please note that similarly sized organizations have recently been the target of sham housing companies, which have contacted other organizations’ sponsors, exhibitors and/or registrants with fraudulent offerings of hotel rooms at significant discounts. As a precaution, this post is intended to keep you informed and to advise that no one from PEDA or our conference hotel(s) will contact you to request personal information including, but not limited to, credit card information.

If you are contacted by anyone asking if you need a room reservation for a PEDA conference, or if they advise they’re representing our conference venues, please do not provide them with any information, but collect as much information as you can from them and pass it along to PEDA.
