The Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA) offers an annual certification for the Economic Development Professional. This program is classified as an individual certification and is not associated with the organizational certification program directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Active members of PEDA are eligible to apply for acceptance into this program. The application process is based on the individual's current job, the duties of their position and the number of years spent in the field of economic development. Participants in the program earn their initial and on-going individual certification status by acquiring 20 Professional Development Units (PDUs), annually, with one hour of actual instruction equating to one PDU.
Deadline for Individual Certification Program Updated
Because many events scheduled for the spring of 2020 have been cancelled or postponed, we recognize it may have been challenging for PEDA members in its individual certification program to earn the annual number of PDUs required for recertification. It is with this in mind that we share the following news with you. Should you have any questions or need for clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact PEDA headquarters.
Note: This program is not associated with the organizational certification program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Detailed Information Regarding the Individual Certification Program
Reporting Process
Annually, only once a member in this program has completed 20 PDUs during a fiscal year (between July 1st and June 30th), each program participant must report their PDUs using the online submission link. Per the above update, the deadline has been changed for individuals seeking recertification for FY2020-21.
