Pre-Conference Session: LERTA – Statute vs The Real World

On-site registration / check-in between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.

Session Overview:

LERTA is a real estate tax abatement tool created by the Pennsylvania General Assembly which can be adopted and used by local municipalities and taxing bodies to facilitate redevelopment. The session, “LERTA – Statute vs The Real World” will provide attendees with statutory background on LERTA, as well as the practical program description. The session will also include the steps necessary for municipalities to designate sites for LERTA and steps required by taxing bodies to adopt LERTA tax abatement.

Economic development practitioners will present an array of “Real World” examples of communities that have used LERTA as an effective redevelopment tool. LERTA has the potential to be a significant complement to overall economic development financing packages for projects across the Commonwealth.

Presenters:

  • Jerrod Belvin, Township Manager, Pocono Township
  • Michelle Bisbing, President, Pocono Mountains Economic Development Corporation
  • Laura Goodrich Cairns, Commerce Director, Delaware County Economic Development Corporation
