PEDA is the primary statewide organization representing economic development professionals and, as such, provides opportunities to share best practices that enhance the professional dialogue and support local, regional, and state economic development initiatives.
Who should attend? Those in attendance are expected to include professionals representing economic and community development at the municipal, county, regional, and state levels as well as workforce development professionals, commercial and industrial developers, business incubator operators, project finance professionals, IDA directors, elected officials, and executives representing utilities and transportation, engineering, and construction.

Pre-Conference Session - Best Practices in Tax-Exempt Financing
This pre-conference session will focus on when and how a nonprofit entity should consider tax-exempt financing. Participants will learn the types of financings available in the tax-exempt market, including what an economic developer’s institution and governing board should take into consideration in making a good borrowing decision. Participants will learn the mechanics of tax-exempt financing and common legal and securities law issues that should always be taken into consideration. Presenters will include attorneys and lenders with more than 60 years combined experience in tax-exempt financing.

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has confirmed this event qualifies as a professional development training that counts toward the recertification of Certified Economic Developers (CEcD).

We're pleased to have reserved our official conference overnight room block with the Hilton Garden Inn Indiana at IUP. The discounted rate of $119 per night is available by copying and pasting the complete URL below into your browser.

Tuesday Off-Site Reception & Transportation
Hosted by the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations, the Tuesday evening reception (informally dubbed a “Taste of Indiana”) will be held at Disobedient Spirits, a local artisan distillery. The evening will feature a delicious assortment of foods as our hosts showcase their local culinary restaurants and caterers. As a compliment to the food, you’ll be treated to hand-crafted distillery cocktails and a variety of craft beers from Levity Brewing Company and Noble Stein Brewing Company, two local microbreweries.
Complimentary group transportation between the KCAC and Disobedient Spirits will be provided. In the interest of your safety and that of others, we request that anyone planning to participate in this reception utilizes the provided transportation or, if circumstances prevent you from doing so, that you speak with a member of PEDA staff, PEDA’s Conference Committee or venue staff to assist in securing alternative means of transportation back to the KCAC.
Three buses have been secured to transport guests to and from the off-site reception at Disobedient Spirits. Two buses (with combined capacity for 80 passengers) will depart the front entrance of the KCAC at approximately 5:45 pm. A third bus (with capacity for 21 passengers) will depart the front entrance of the KCAC at approximately 6:00 pm. One of the buses departing at 5:45 pm (with a capacity of approximately 40) will return at approximately 6:15 pm and will transport remaining guests to Disobedient Spirits. Return trips from the off-site venue to the KCAC will be available during and at the conclusion of the reception.

Please note that early bird registration rates will be honored only for registrations received and fully paid by the stated deadline. A registration received after the deadline or only partially completed by the deadline will result in the registrant being assessed the standard registration rate.
Cancellation / Refund Policies
Due to venue guarantees, requests for cancellations and refunds must be made in writing and received by 4:30 pm on October 9th. No refunds will be granted after that point.
All cancellations and refunds are subject to an administrative fee. No-shows will be billed in full. Substitutions are permitted, but rate adjustments (i.e., member vs. non-member, early-bird vs. standard, etc.) will apply.
Free parking is available to overnight guests staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Indiana at IUP.
Free parking is also available in the Wayne Avenue Parking Lot for conference attendees not staying overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn Indiana at IUP.

Please note that similarly sized organizations have recently been the target of sham housing companies, which have contacted other organizations’ sponsors, exhibitors and/or registrants with fraudulent offerings of hotel rooms at significant discounts. As a precaution, this post is intended to keep you informed and to advise that no one from PEDA or our conference hotel(s) will contact you to request personal information including, but not limited to, credit card information.
If you are contacted by anyone asking if you need a room reservation for a PEDA conference, or if they advise they’re representing our conference venues, please do not provide them with any information, but collect as much information as you can from them and pass it along to PEDA.
