Executive Director of Dauphin County
Department of Community and Economic Development
Job Location: Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
Dauphin County is seeking an experienced professional to lead County Government's efforts in Economic Development and Redevelopment. The successful candidate for this position must possess significant economic development and redevelopment experience and knowledge, have exceptional people skills including but not limited to the following: the ability to collaborate; vision to look beyond small issues and seek big solutions; ability to develop good relationships with local government officials; superior oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate must exude confidence, trustworthiness and integrity both within Dauphin County and the community as a whole. The successful candidate must be a team player not only within the structure of County Government, related County Boards and Authorities, but also with local and regional partners in Economic Development and related activities.
Minimal requirements include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Planning and/or (a) related fields. Professional Certification and advanced degrees preferred. Working knowledge of economic development programs; Pennsylvania experience preferred but not required. Working knowledge of economics, business operations and macroeconomic issues facing business in today's global economy. Successful candidate should possess an awareness of emerging economic and community development trends and demonstrate a commitment to continuing education in the field. Candidate should also have excellent oral and written communication skills and superior computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.
Experience requirements include: Five years of progressive economic development experience, two years of which should be in a leadership role that required supervision of staff and direct client work. Experience working with elected officials, media and other economic development professionals. Salary is commensurate with experience.
